IMMOVABLE
Remaining Steadfast Amidst a Declining Generation

“Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.” 1 Corinthians 15:58

The drumbeat of the culture has grown louder and more intense over recent years, and with it the rising chants of the masses:

“Change. Conform. Move!”

Educational institutions, governmental bodies, and other centuries-old pillars of society are feeling the constant pressure to crack and crumble under the demands of what is called “progress.” Even once solidly-standing churches are now caving to this pressure. We’ve all heard the drumbeat and have likely felt its reverberation in many aspects of our lives.

But what should the church’s answer be to culture’s call for us to change, adapt, and move?

“No. We will not be moved.”

The call we must obey is the call of God which he has clearly communicated to his church in every generation:

“So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the traditions that you were taught by us, either by our spoken word or by our letter” (2 Thessalonians 2:15).

“Therefore, my brothers, whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand firm thus in the Lord, my beloved” (Philippians 4:1).

“...no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes” (Ephesians 4:14).

“Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong” (1 Corinthians 16:13).

Though the world around us seems to be in a continual state of moral decline, we need not fear. Our God is our unchanging, immovable Rock, and in him alone do we have hope and salvation. Christians today need to be reminded of this great God we serve. And we need the encouragement to remain steadfast and immovable, just as God has called us.

This is the focus of the 2021 BTC National Conference.
